This pastel started with an acrylic undercoat. It was done from a photo taken one very cold morning in the fall, during a paint-out demonstration. The painting came together fairly quickly – as I was trying not to over-work it, which you do not want to do with pastels. I loved the way the light did an inter-play with the shadows.
